Commercial Electrical Contractor

Tenant improvements, service upgrades, lighting and emergency power for Phoenix-area businesses.

MJK Electric is a licensed commercial electrical contractor (AZ ROC #363113 (CR-11)) based in north Phoenix. We work with general contractors, property managers and business owners across the Phoenix metro, including Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria, Scottsdale, New River, Paradise Valley and Buckeye. We build out new space, upgrade aging electrical service, and keep occupied buildings running while the work gets done.

Commercial Electrical Services

Tenant improvements and new construction

Office, retail, restaurant, warehouse and flex-space build-outs, from rough-in through final inspection. We work from your engineered drawings or help define the electrical scope with your designer, keep pace with the general contractor's schedule, and handle permits with the city or county that has jurisdiction.

Service upgrades and panel changes

When a building's main service can't carry new equipment, or the switchboard and panels have reached the end of their life, we size and install the new service, coordinate the utility side with APS or SRP, and plan the cutover so the outage is as short as possible and lands when it hurts least, including nights and weekends.

Lighting retrofits and site lighting

LED retrofits for warehouses, offices, retail floors and parking areas, plus lighting controls and exit and emergency lighting brought up to code. Better light, lower power bills, and fewer trips up a lift to change lamps.

Data, communication and fiber cabling

Data drops, network racks and fiber runs between floors or buildings, installed alongside the power so one contractor owns the pathways and the schedule.

Emergency power and generators

Standby generators, transfer switches and dedicated circuits for the loads that can't go dark: refrigeration, servers and network gear, security systems and life-safety equipment.

Equipment circuits and code corrections

New circuits for kitchen equipment, compressors, HVAC units and production equipment. We also correct items flagged by an inspector, insurance carrier or fire marshal, and document what was fixed.

Who We Work For

  • General contractors who need an electrical subcontractor that shows up, follows the schedule and closes out inspections.
  • Property managers and building owners keeping multi-tenant buildings, office parks and warehouses safe, code-compliant and ready to lease.
  • Business owners expanding, moving into a new space, or adding equipment that needs more power than the building was built for.

How a Commercial Project Works

  1. Site visit. We walk the space, review drawings and existing equipment, and confirm what the building's electrical service can support.
  2. Written proposal. An itemized scope and price, so you can see exactly what is and isn't included.
  3. Permits and utility coordination. We pull the electrical permit and coordinate with APS or SRP when service work is involved.
  4. Installation. Scheduled around your operations, with clean, labeled work.
  5. Inspection and closeout. We meet the inspector, correct anything flagged, and hand over updated panel schedules.
Built for Arizona heat. Rooftop conduit in a Phoenix summer, electrical rooms without enough ventilation, and outdoor equipment in direct sun all change how conductors and gear need to be sized and protected. We plan for the heat, not just the code minimum.

Need Industrial or Machine Work Too?

Many commercial buildings in the Valley house light manufacturing, fabrication or machine shops. We handle that work in-house: see industrial electrical, CNC, lathe and mill installation and CNC machine troubleshooting.
